Pilot test for the incorporation of Independent Workers

DESCRIPTION

If you are Mexican and work abroad, you can join the IMSS as an Independent Worker (IW).

This insurance scheme allows independent workers outside of Mexico who decide to join the IMSS, as well as their families, to have the right to receive medical services and social benefits in Mexico.

With this new comprehensive insurance scheme, migrant workers and their families can have access to all services and have the coverage and benefits of the five insurances provided for in the Social Security Law:

  1. Medical, hospital, pharmaceutical and obstetric care services
  2. Disability in the event of an accident at work
  3. Disability and life pension
  4. Saving for retirement
  5. Nursery services, wakes and social benefits

BENEFICIARY POPULATION
 

Migrant worker and their family unit:

  • Spouse or common law partner
  • Children up to 16 years old or 25 if they continue studying
  • Parents, if they cohabit and depend economically on them

PLACES OF IMPLEMENTATION

Within Mexico's national territory

REQUIERMENTS

Of the independent worker:

  • CURP
  • Social Security Number (NSS granted by the IMSS)
  • Address in Mexico and contact information
  • Email

TEMPORALITY

Permanent with monthly, semi-annual or annual advance payment.
