On October 25, took place the presentation of the Regional communication campaign of the Labor Migration Group. Aiming to inform about the labor rights of the migrant working population and make visible their value for States' economies and society. The campaign consists of five videos and informational elements for social networks. The finished version of the campaign will be presented before the XXVI Vice Ministerial Meeting in December.
The objective of this training program was to develop capacities to identify occupational profiles of migrants, from a human rights, gender, and inclusion perspective. The program was carried out for 3 days with the participation of International Organizations like the IOM, which presented an overview of migratory trends in the Americas and the ILO, the latter offered a presentation on the labor situation in the region. Various stakeholders were also present.
The key objective of the Discussion on good practices on migratory control in emergency contexts (covid-19 pandemic) was to publicize the actions and strategies for the care of the COVID-19 pandemic and to visualize the possible areas of collaboration between the countries in the region. Presentations were delivered by the Secretariat of Health of Mexico, the Pan American Health Organization, and the International Organization for Migration. Representatives of Panama, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic participated too.
The workshop conducted on November 9 and 10 aimed at authorities of the Member Countries learning about the various mechanisms and good practices that currently operate for the search and forensic identification of missing migrants, and repatriation of remains; their origin and operation, conformation and characteristics, interactions, exchanges and information flow at the regional level.
The workshop conducted on November 12 aimed at analyzing the relevance and feasibility of building regional schemes for the recognition and certification of competencies. Representatives of the governments of the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and El Salvador were present to talk about the actions carried out in their respective countries. Additionally, the ILO presented the Qualifications frameworks, which are public and are hosted on its website electronic.
